SEAN-NÓS NORTHWEST - A CELEBRATION OF TRADITIONS OF IRELAND May 1-4 The Irish Cultural Society of the Pacific Northwest is pleased to present the 14th annual Sean-nós Northwest festival, returning to beautiful Portland, Oregon. Sean-nós Northwest is an event dedicated to promoting and celebrating Ireland's deep cultural practices, including sean-nós singing and dancing, other vernacular dance forms, traditional instrumental music, and the Irish language—An Ghaeilge. The festival will take place at venues in the Alberta Arts District of NE Portland, featuring an intimate public concert, invigorating social dance, and engaging daytime workshops. There will also be convivial community events at some of Portland’s most celebrated public houses. Welcome special guests Dáthaí Sproule (singer), Anna Lethert (dancer), Danny Diamond (fiddler), Jackie O’Reilly (dancer), and Scot Éamonn Ó Muilleora (language instructor) who will be sharing their talents, stories, and insights into their respective traditions. PORTLAND CINCO DE MAYO FIESTA May 2-5 For more than 30 years, the Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association has hosted a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta hat has become one of the largest multicultural celebrations in Oregon. The fiesta boasts three full days packed with festivities and culturally immersive programming at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland. During the event, festival-goers can experience the spirit of Mexico through music, arts, dance and sport.

82ND AVENUE OF ROSES PARADE Apr 26 The 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade is back in Southeast Portland. The parade starts at SE Bush Street at 9:30 a.m. and proceeds north on 82nd to SE 78th and Yamhill. Starting with a small parade in 2007, a small group of businesses, friends and neighbors have created a fun, festive and welcoming event. A lively group of community members organizes and promotes positive community development. The organization known as the 82 Roses Community Enrichment Coalition (82 Roses) believes that the 82nd Avenue of Roses is a livable, attractive, safe, and equitably diverse community and wants to show it off. After the Parade, residents and friends are invited to attend another group's event: New Year in the Park — a free, family-friendly event celebrating Cambodian, Lao, Thai and Burmese New Years at Glenhaven Park on 82nd Ave and Siskiyou from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..

ASTORIA WARRENTON CRAB, SEAFOOD & WINE FESTIVAL Apr 25-27 The Astoria Warrenton Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival is held annually on the last weekend of April, at the Clatsop County Fair & Expo Center. The Astoria-Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce (AWACC) coordinates this event which, held annually since 1982, features around 150 vendors of hand-crafted arts, coastal cuisine, Oregon wine and local brews. Enjoy a selection of northwest flavors from a dozen food vendors. Tour Oregon’s renowned wine country with 40 wineries offering a multitude of varietals made in Oregon, primarily using northwest-grown grapes. Local craft breweries will be serving up their favorite foamy brews. And, for those that prefer their spirits distilled, the festival has you covered, too. Enjoy live music on two stages throughout the weekend, featuring performers from a variety of genres to keep your toes tapping. While listening, stroll through the aisles of more than 100 booths featuring local artists, northwest-made products and more.

REEL EATS: MEN IN BLACK Apr. 29-30 Men in Black will be returning to the big screen as part of OMSI’s Reel Eats series. A $35 ticket to Reel Eats gets you admission to the largest screen in town as well as a tray full of bite-sized snacks that pair with moments in the film. What will you eat as Agent J fires the noisy cricket? Join us to find out. WARNING: Flashing lights occur during the film.

He lives with his fiancée, TWA airline stewardess Gloria—and Lufthansa stewardess Gretchen—and Alitalia stewardess Gabriella. However, none of the women knows about the other two, and this is exactly the way Bernard has designed it. This arrangement works fine as long as their flight schedules only bring them home every three days. WOODEN SHOE TULIP FESTIVAL Mar. 21–Apr. 27 The annual bloom of cherry blossoms at downtown Portland’s Waterfront Park is impressive, but an even more colorful burst of flowers appears every spring just 32 miles (51 km) south of the city, in Woodburn. The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival blossoms each spring, drawing thousands to come and see 40 acres (16 ha) of tulips in bloom, rain or shine.
Tulip bulbs are classified as early to mid-season flowers. This means that in the Portland area, their bloom season runs from March through May. Likewise, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival runs from mid-March to early May, with the most flowers in full bloom around mid-April. Blooms only last for about two weeks, so don’t wait too long to frolic in these fields!

PORTLAND SATURDAY MARKET Mar. 1–Dec. 20 Combining the vibes of an art show, a live street concert and an open-air bazaar, the Portland Saturday Market has been a beloved Rose City tradition since 1974, earning it the “Oregon Heritage Tradition” title in 2024. In fact, the market is considered the largest continually operating arts-and-crafts fair in the United States, drawing up to one million visitors during its annual season.
On any given weekend from the beginning of March to the day before Christmas, shoppers can wend their way through the rows of tents of this large outdoor market featuring local makers, artisans, and chefs.
