PORTLAND ROSE FESTIVAL May 23–June 22 Every year for more than a century, the City of Roses has celebrated excellence with the Portland Rose Festival Declared Portland’s official festival in 2010, the celebration includes more than 60 events, including parades, fleet week ships, carnival rides, art shows, fun runs and more, starting in late May and ending in mid-June.
The schedule is eventful and full of good times; just make sure you take a moment or to to smell the roses.

ROSE FESTIVAL OPENING NIGHT AND FIREWORKS May 23 Nothing says celebration quite like fireworks — and the Portland Rose Festival will blast off with an impressive fireworks display choreographed to music. Opening day of the Rose Festival is Friday, May 23, at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, starting at 5:00 p.m. You are invited to enjoy the carnival rides, food, and activities, with opening night Fireworks at 9:50 p.m. that evening. The Festival will continue for three consecutive weekends, including the Starlight Parade, Fleet Week, Junior Parade, Queen Coronation, Grand Floral Parade, and more.

JACK WHITE May 17 White’s sixth studio album, No Name officially arrived on Friday, August 2 following its clandestine white-label appearance at Third Man Records locations that saw customers slipped, guerilla-style, free unmarked vinyl copies in their shopping bags. True to his DIY roots, the record was recorded at White’s Third Man Studio throughout 2023 and 2024, pressed to vinyl at Third Man Pressing, and released by Third Man Records.
White has marked the arrival of No Name with surprise shows around the world, including sold-out pop-up dates set for tonight at Austin, TX’s Mohawk and tomorrow, November 15, at San Antonio, TX’s Paper Tiger

BLUEGRASS IN THE GORGE May 29-June 1 Imagine 4 days and 3 nights in the Columbia River Gorge filled with bluegrass instruction and jamming for guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and bass. Bluegrass in the Gorge is for bluegrass players who want to improve their instrumental skills and enjoy making music with others. If you love bluegrass and want to take your skills and enjoyment to the next level, this is the long weekend for you!

Menucha is a magical spot in the Columbia River Gorge. Late May/Early June is a beautiful time to be here. We've got comfy beds, great rooms, porches and patios on which to gather and make music and this bluegrass camp has a capacity of 50.

VOID TATTOO FEST May 23–25 Announcing VOID Tattoo Fest, an artist-run expo inviting top-tier talent from around the world to Portland. VOID Tattoo Fest is the creative vision of Portland tattooers and shop owners, Brian Wilson (Wilson Brothers Tattoo, formerly Scapegoat Tattoo) and Olivia Britz-Wheat (Mortal Emblem). The first-of-its-kind curated tattoo event brings together over 120 artists from around the world to showcase their talent, network with fellow tattooers, and enjoy local music, food, and beverages from participating vendors and sponsors, like on-site Jupiter Next bar Hey Love. The event is ticketed and open to the public, with a series of seminars taught by tattoo experts available to licensed professionals only.

ASIAN HERITAGE MONTH May 3-31 Join Lan Su to celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month. In partnership with more than 20 local cultural organizations, performers, and artists, explore the history, traditions, and arts that make up the rich cultural tapestry of AANHPI. Lan Su highlights the stories, the culture, and the expressions of AANHPI communities. Enjoy a display of traditional outfits, cultural performances, vendors from local AANHPI communities, educational talks and demonstrations, and learn all about these different cultures and traditions. Everyone is invited to celebrate cultural diversity.

PORTLAND SATURDAY MARKET Mar. 1–Dec. 20 Combining the vibes of an art show, a live street concert and an open-air bazaar, the Portland Saturday Market has been a beloved Rose City tradition since 1974, earning it the “Oregon Heritage Tradition” title in 2024. In fact, the market is considered the largest continually operating arts-and-crafts fair in the United States, drawing up to one million visitors during its annual season.
On any given weekend from the beginning of March to the day before Christmas, shoppers can wend their way through the rows of tents of this large outdoor market featuring local makers, artisans, and chefs. ST. JOHN'S BAZAAR AND PARADE May 10 The St. Johns Bizarre is a uniquely crafted celebration that kicks off Portland's summer street fair season. Held annually on the second Saturday in May, the Bizarre brings music, crafts, and food to the crowds who traditionally attended the St. Johns Parade. After the parade, a portion of the business district in St. Johns is closed to traffic and filled with over 135 juried craft vendors, several stages for music, great food, and tons of games and activities. It’s a fantastic community event with something for everyone. The event is free.

A marketplace specifically for Indigenous/Black vendors, all the artists/entrepreneurs featured on Indigenous Marketplace have Indigenous/Black ancestry. Vendors sell their hand made and original. |
